The primary aim of the Differently Abled Cell is to promote inclusivity and equality for students with disabilities. It seeks to ensure that these students receive the same opportunities as their peers in academic and non-academic pursuits. The objectives of the cell include:
1.Providing necessary aids and resources like reading materials, assistive devices, and adaptive technology for students with disabilities.
2. Offering academic support such as extra time in exams, note-takers, and accessible classrooms.
3. Raising awareness among faculty, staff, and students about the needs and rights of differently-abled individuals.
4. Organizing counseling and guidance services to help students with disabilities adapt to college life.
5. Ensuring physical accessibility on campus through ramps, elevators, and other required infrastructure.
6 Encouraging social inclusion and participation in all aspects of college life, such as cultural programs and sports activities.
Role and Responsibility
The Differently Abled Cell Committee of Pravara Medical Trust's Arts, Commerce, and Science College Shevgaon plays a vital role in ensuring the welfare of students with disabilities. The committee’s primary responsibilities include:
1. Identifying and assessing the specific needs of differently-abled students, and ensuring they are met in a timely and effective manner.
2. Offering academic assistance, such as extra time during exams, note-taking services, and arranging for the use of assistive technology or devices.
3. Organizing awareness programs for faculty, staff, and students to foster an inclusive environment and understanding of the challenges faced by differently-abled individuals.
4. Overseeing the maintenance of accessible infrastructure, such as ramps, elevators, and toilets, to make the campus accessible to all students.
5. Regularly monitoring the progress of differently-abled students and providing counseling or psychological support to help them adjust to academic life.
